Debit Card Phone Scam:

A debit card scam was recently reported to our bank. Individuals said that they had received “computer generated” phone calls stating that their M&F Bank debit card is about to be deactivated. They were then instructed to press “1” and enter their debit card number. This is a scam. M&F Bank has not produced this phone call and will not ever send such calls asking the customer to key in debit card or other account information.

How does M&F Bank help protect you against Fraud?

M&F Bank currently uses a Fraud Risk Identification Service (FRIS). If you are contacted by FRIS, you will not be asked to give a debit card number or account information. FRIS will simply ask if you have made certain suspicious transactions using your debit card. If you say you did NOT make the charges, you are then instructed to contact your bank.
